As part of the Special Collections and University Archives Collection Department of UCF’s Library, the Home Movie Archive seeks to collect 8 mm, Super 8 mm, and 16 mm home movies, captured mostly from late 1940s through the end of the 1970s, which have cultural, historical, scientific, or artistic significance, with a focus on Central Florida and its residents.

The aim of creating a Home Movie Archive is to ensure that the valuable social and historical information, captured by ordinary citizens, be preserved as part of the Special Collections and University Archives permanent holdings-a non-circulating collection whose use is confined to the Special Collections reading/research room.

Those participating in Home Movie Day may opt to donate their films to the Archive at the end of the event.  The Archive offers a free DVD transfer of all accepted reels to the donor free of charge as a token of our thanks for their gift.  Not all donations will necessarily be accepted.  If film is unsuitable for the Archive, the donor will be contacted with more information.  If you are unable to attend Home Movie Day but are still interested in donating films to the Archive, please contact Rebecca Wack at rebecca.wack@ucf.edu.
